Starring: Ricardo Cortez, Greta Garbo

Plot: A young girl and her father are kicked out of their house by a cruel noblewoman, and the girl's heart is broken when her sweetheart, the noblewoman's son, won't go to Paris with them. After becoming an opera star in Paris (and a scandalous one at that), the girl returns to her homeland. Will her romance with the nobleman be rekindled, or is it too late?

Based on the popular Spanish writer's Vicente Blasco Ibanez's work Entre Naranjoshis, this film is a first and a last for Greta Garbo. It was her first American made film, from MGM, the only studio in the USA that she would ever work at. It was also the last time that someone else was billed above her in the credits, that being her leading man her Ricardo Cortez.
