Togoshi Shikenoku - 08/14/2009 Agree with what others have said the only reason to get this is because of one of the funniest short's ever '21st century calling" everyone is so ridiculously happy you can't help but feel the same way "I can't stop smiling!" "I am positively insane" now to the movie most of these old 50's sci fi films are pretty much the same in scope (meaning you know what to expect) this one however is a little different, I for one never really got into space children while i did find it humorous in parts the greatest being the Cat Stevens reference
"This is where the children come to plaaaaayy, plaaiaialaly LOL on and on it went (cracks me up) and that part was hysterical. this would have gotten a 3 but because of the "21ST CENTURY CALLING" it will receive a 4. |
Evan Millett - 07/16/2009 The "Century 21 Calling" short is almost the only reason to get this DVD. The jokes for that short are just downright hilarious.
The short takes place at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, showing us the phones of tomorrow (which are as big as cars), with great "Ren & Stimpy" music playing in the back. I'm from Seattle, so I love the short.
The movie "Space Children" is another one of those 50s "Science is everything/Christian message in the end" pieces of fluff. Throughout the movie, Servo (the gumball machine robot) constantly sings Cat Stephens' song "Where do the Children Play".
HILARIOUS!
Thanks, Cheesy Flix. :) |
Jenn Fastwolf - 11/17/2008 Awesome!!!
I got this one based on the rave reviews I read and I couldn't be more thrilled.
The mysteriously giddy short alone (Century 21 Calling)would make it worth the price but the sight of Jackie Coogan in zebra hotpants nearly made me laugh pop out my nose... so great. |
Jason Jones - 03/19/2008 Excellent quality, (and a rare short) what a great movie for MST3K! ( Jackie Coogan, poor guy is literally the butt of the joke.
Check out the riffs for the "Jackie Coogan Banana Warmer" and etc. Jackie was actually a big hollywood star in the early 1900's and then these are the movies he ended up in. ) Lucky for us, because theses are the coolest cheesy flix! This is a surprisingly watchable flick and there are lots of funny riffs. You WON'T be disappointed! |
Chad Fogus - 03/02/2008 This has always been one of my favorite later season episodes. There's so many memorable moments and funny one liners throughout this experiment; the skits between the film are pretty good as well. I've picked this episode up from many traders over the years, and even transferred my own first generation VHS copy to DVD. Michael's copy edges out many of the copies I've reviewed, including my own. This is one of the few SciFi episodes with a short. I highly recommend this episode to all existing MSTies and newcomers. This one rates high on video/audio quality, and hilarity scales. Highly recommended. |
